God defines man’s job description in Nehemiah 4:14, and it couldn’t be any clearer.
“Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
Men are called daily into battle to protect their families. Not just their wife and kids, but those who are weak, vulnerable and the Voiceless.
The goal of NE414 is to train and disciple men to step up and fulfill the job God has assigned them. But man’s responsibility doesn’t stop with his wife and kids.
God has more to say:
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
God’s job description for men includes defending the rights of the poor and needy. FOR THOSE who CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. Hint: Preborn babies cannot speak for themselves.
God’s job description for men doesn’t stop at saving the preborn, men must protect, raise, encourage and disciple youth to be future leaders and protectors of their family.
Man was the first to sin
I believe that when God judges this country for all the innocent blood shed, child abuse and neglect, He will judge men first. Why?
Adam, where are you?
The first chapters of Genesis tell us that Adam and Eve only had one commandment to keep, don’t eat one piece of fruit.
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Check out the underlined words.
Adam stood in silence, next to Eve when the snake deceived her. Do we hear anything from Adam? No. No objections; no warnings; no getting in the devil’s face or standing up for God or Eve. Nothing.
Adam knew better but he remained silent. Adam’s silence was the first sin.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam),
and death through sin.
Even though Eve was the first to bite into the fruit, and the snake was the one who deceived, God called Adam to accountability first.
But the Lord God called to the man, Adam, where are you?
Why? Adam failed to protect. His silence brought destruction to his family.
That is why I believe God will call men to judgment first.
Whether or not you believe in God, the fact is that men have dropped the ball. They escape to video games or stare at a screen when they should be leading the battle to protect the weak, vulnerable and the Voiceless.
Is it any different today when women need support after an unplanned pregnancy? When the Voiceless, preborn child needs the greatest protection, the man remains silent.
